Sea Ranch

Would I be interested in photographing a wedding? When my friend Andy Howes asked the question I think I laughed a little. I had never er done a wedding and my photo work tends to be a little more static. However, with a little coaxing I said yes. I thought, who knows maybe I’d really enjoy it and this could be one of those stories about falling unexpectedly into a new career. Not to mention that it was for a friend and going to be a low key affair. That and it was a destination wedding off the Pacific coast at Sea Ranch in northern CA. So I said yes

The wedding took place in October and besides photographing the day I’d have ample time to explore the coast. Having traveled there before I was excited to do some medium format film photography.

For the wedding I rented a Leica SL2. The wedding was a beautiful event and the wandering was a much needed break from life back in South Dakota. I’m incredibly grateful to Blayne & Andy for their trust in me to capture their day. Their families and friends were a joy to capture and made me feel right at home. 

Would I photograph another wedding? Yes, but only low key destination weddings for friends (at least acquaintances). If that’s you, hit me up!
